How-To install power bucket seats into your ford truck
Tools needed:
- a good socket set
- a adjustable wrench
- electrical tape
- automotive electrical wiring
- a fuse holder
- fuse for the fuse holder
- electric drill and bits (hammer drills work great)
- 2" high steel pipe to use a shimes
- WD-40
- Hammer
- Center punch
Step 1: firstly remove the origninal bucket seat from the cab. There are 4 bolts on 2 tracks that hold it in place, and then there are 2 bolts in the front of the seat. If i remember correctly they should be 15mm bolts that go right through the floor.
Step 2:
Remove the seatbelt connectors. This can be done easiest by using a Allen or Hex key. spray the bolt with WD-40 to losen it up, place the Allen Key in the grove and use the handle end of the adjustable wrench with the hole. Place the allen key into the hole and use the wrench to gain extra leverage. If this dosen't work try a pipe wrench
Step 3: Remove the Bench seat
Step 4:
Place the bucket seats into the truck and mark where you want them to go. I placed them apart a little. New holes will have to be drilled no matter how you try to align the seats
Step 5:
Drill the holes you marked with the center punch and hammer. Drill the holes out completely. Drill all 4 holes for once seat at a time.
Step 6:
Place the seat over the holes you just drilled. Now with the steel pipe place it on the door side of the seat to raise the seat
Step 7:
Now bolt the seat down to the floor. Use nuts on the ends of the bolt to secure the seats
Step 8:
Do the same for the other seat now
Step 9:
To connect the power seats, seats out of LTD the passenger side seat has a connector that has 4 wires. 2 solid black wires whihc are the ground wires and 2 wires with a white strip on them. These are the live wires. Just connect the fuse to some wire and then to the battery. Run the live wire to the seats. Ground the seats to a screw in the floor. And that's it!
