| Installing a aftermarket Tach is very easy. You can pick up these tachs at Walmart for 32.00 but they are 2 1/2 inches without a shift light. If you want a shift light Canadain Tire, or any preformance shop will have tahcs Step 1: Read over the instruction (if they have them) and make sure you have all the parts, bolts screws, wire crimps ect Step 2: Decide where you want to mount the tach. I mounted mine under the cigarette lighter right of the ashtray. From there I find I can get the best view of it. Step 3: Wiring it up. the GREEN wire goes to the "TACH TEST" on the coil. A wire crimp can be used here to connect the 2 wires together. The RED wire is your power source. This can be any live wire. Since my truck has FOG LIGHTS installed on it, I decided to use my fog lights as the live wire. The BLACK WIRE is the ground. Any piece of steel or a screw will work. When the FOG lights are on, the Tach will be illuminated. They suggest istalling the tach to your headlight switch but since I didnt want to rip the headlight harness apart I used my Fog lights instead. Way easier And thats it. Simple eh? |
