Result: 1st Place

Led by musical director, Jeremy Wise, the band have won the title
‘Champion Band of the London and Southern Counties region for 2009’ and will again proudly represent the region in the national final to be held at the Royal Albert Hall in October.

in an unsurpassed period of success by a southern band the win means that the ensemble have been Champions in seven of the last eight years (9 in the last 13 years). The band has gained a national reputation in the brass band world for the quality of musicianship and general musicality.

The region’s annual national contest, held in March at the Stevenage Arts Centre each year, gathers competitors from 85 brass bands arranged in 5 leagues to compete for their respective titles. The top league, the Championship section, awards the winner a coverted place in the finals to compete against the winners and runners-up from the seven other regions across Britain, a truly national contest.
