Air Manifold
for
Air Shocks and Bags
This Mainifold is designed for those that are fortunate enough to have both air shocks and air bags on their Motor Trike.
When air bags were first introduced they were also sold as accessories to former MT owners.  It was soon discovered that the two systems could not use the same air lines due to oil migrating into the air bags.  At that time, to simplify matters, MT switched to mechanical shocks and air bags.  The air shocks were and are better, but they required a separate air supply.  The new bags came with an air tee and lines to connect each bag.  They reqired a pump or some other source for the air pressure since the onboard compressor was hooked up to the shocks.

I decided that with the use of a couple of needle globe valves and some 1/8" compression fittings I could make a manifold to take care of both systems.  The valves are block type with "T'" handles.  By pushing out the T, I could push the stems and packing through a couple of holes in the trunk wall.  The entire manifold was made out of place and the holes drilled to match the layout.  The inline T from the air bags was used as an emergency source of air if the onboard compressor failed.
All the fittings are standard and available at any good hardware store.  Once installed through the holes in the trunk wall, I used two copper two hole straps to keep everything in place.  To operate, I open the air bag valve, use the compressor and guage to set the desired pressure.  With that done, I close the bag valve,  open the shock valve, and set that pressure. Closing the shock valve isolates both systems and allows the pressure in the supply line to slowly bleed off through the valve stems.  Simple, but really works great and allows us to adjust our system at any time, anywhere.....Enjoy
