RED FLAG 77-A SHORT CUT TO A BETTER CD
Leather , Bristles , studs and achne is right! This CD has 20 more
blasts of formidable Red Flag 77 for you and your friends to gob to.
Great production , buzzsaw guitars and songs that switch from
Cocksparrer like anthems to snarling hardcore. Includes " Lipstick" and
"How Low?" from their split EP with Special Duties.

RED FLAG 77-A SHORT CUT TO A BETTER WORLD CD
(CD-BEER CITY 126)
With 999 and UK Subs t-shirts on the record sleeve so can you understand
what Red Flag 77 do.
And when they have 77 in their name so can you new punks or maybe more the old
punks understand what they do, and they do their music in a true spirit of 77.
It´s a little better sound than the groups had back then and maybe a little
faster than the groups were. I think the basslines in How Low remind me of Andy
Blades old group Eater, is it childhood memories or Very good memories?
I think that red Flag 77 really do their 77-punk without being pathetic
and musically is very good played and they have a feeling for punkrock that
many other bands don´t have. BUY IT FOR GOD`S SAKE 9 (NINE) out of 10.

RED FLAG 77-A SHORT CUT TO A BETTER WORLD CD
Beer City has another sloshed out, punk as fuck CD this month from a
bunch of veteran rockers from the UK called Red Flag 77. This rocking
slice of fresh meat is called: A short Cut to a Better World. These guys
have been kicking around since 1990 and first issued this CD in the UK
in 1998; Beer City has added two new songs . This is competent
journeyman punk rock played with feeling. The roots of this sound goes
back to the 80s wave of UK bands, populated by some stars like Charlie
Harper and the UK Subs. The melodies and guitar hooks are there and the
songs chug along nicely. The singing is flavored with a good amount of
the English accent that is very popular with American street punk bands.
Give this one a spin!

REVIEW OF THE ORIGINAL RELEASE OF 'A SHORT CUT TO A BETTER WORLD'
From 'sufferinsuffrajettes' website
RED FLAG 77 'A Short Cut To A better World'
(monstCD002)
This release just bears out what I heard on the promo tape that has been playing
on my stereo off and on for over 12 months now. And yep, all the hype that
surrounds these Suffuck cunts is true. They have threw away there early novelty
appeal and come up with the goods this time. You even get an extra 3 tracks on
the bonafide release that comes in a bright blood curdling cover. RED FLAG 77's
constant gigging and dedication to everything punk is paying off big time on this
release. You get all there stage favourites like 'Nervous System' and
'Lipstick' that has some good witty lyrics which I couldn't suss out previously, "We
need open spaces not these highrise cages/we don't want your hairsprays sprayed in our
faces". They give us a slice of life in Britain today in the 90's without all the
preaching bullshit some bands expose us to and together with a good solid musical
backdrop it hits home twice as hard. There most simplistic but explosive live number
'Look Mum (I'm on the radio)' together with the anthemlike 'Utopia' were peaks for
me, but my spys tell me the newer material is lining up to join these. RED FLAG 77
have grew up but ain't lost the chase and the 'Change In you'
spells that out. They've got enough experience behind them now to pack a punch both
live and on disc with the best of them. 'Cos this album proves that RED FLAG 77 are
easily the best thing to crawl out of Ipswich since The Addicts nearly 2 decades
ago and deserve recognition for that. They even do that 'Football Crazy' ditty
for the Ipswich towners who slashed their wrists after missing the play-offs.
Cheers.

RED FLAG 77 "A Short Cut To A Better World" (EUR 13)
The long-awaited debut full CD from these Ipswich punks including 20 storming
fast and stupid tracks of pure adrenalised '77 style Punk Rock mayhem
with a twist of humour

A highlight in the series, if you're into punk like it was meant to be played then check this out. A double shot of classic 77 style punk from one of the U.K.'s finest. Classic Punk on a classic theme, lads; if you don't get this, it's your own fuckin' fault. And while you're at it, look for their other self-released singles and a full-length CD.

RED FLAG 77 A Shortcut to a Better World CD [Beer City] Way back in 1990 some boyz in the UK that had played in many bands decided to form a cover band that would play punk songs just for fun and to get free drinks at the pub. What started as a cover band over the next few years grew into a full on punk band that not only did original songs, but also was one hell of an incredible band. After putting out many demos and split 7"s and 7"s with just them on Red Flag 77 recorded their very own full length and released it on their own label. After its release Rikki the singer of the band sent one off to us at Beer City to see what we thought. Upon hearing this CD we couldn’t believe our ears! This band played excellent English punk that was fast yet had lots of rhythm, but at the same time was tough as nails. We were so blown away by them that we offered to do an American release of this excellent full length. Red Flag 77 agreed and we immediately started working on everything. We got our resident artist Tom Kline to draw up a new cover and do a new layout and then got Red Flag 77 to give us 2 brand new songs that didn’t appear on the original UK pressing of this CD. So there are a total of 21 killer punk tunes on here that Sid Vicious would be very proud off. So make sure to pick this one up. You will be an instant fan! (Mike Beer)
