Re-Dressing | "This space is for the Yahoo thing" | |||||||||||||||||||
This is the webpage of the artist commonly known as Siobhan(Shvawn). This is my two cents worth on the subject. My deep and meaningfull. Sometimes I'm quite sure I've got it figured out. Its not about gender or sexuality. Its about life itself. Its a spiritual thing. |

We are given only part of what we need to be whole. That need is part of lifes structure; a built-in imperfection. We are built to seek the redressing of that imbalance. What does this have to do with dressing? The dresser is someone whose emotional path in life is so fraught with obstacles, perhaps due to upbringing, rolemodels, dominating females etc, that he cannot redress that imbalance and seeks an unusual path to find that missing part of life. Some of us think that this means they are meant to be women. That's not how it is for all of us. It's a wonderful escape from a reality that allows so little emotional release. It is a bit addictive too. It's a pity that the subject is imbued with the idea that it is self-indulgent. Sometimes it is, like a drug. But we got this way because something was missing and we could'nt fulfill our needs as others did. There was a desperate need to be filled. Societys usual solution to those who don't play by the rules and who take unusual shortcuts to emotional release is excommunication. But that doesn't solve anything for us except to make us feel bad. Theres nothing wrong with dressing in itself. A creative alternative to a potential emotional prison. |
