The New blues band that are going to show young people that blues ain't nothing to laugh at!

The red river band are a rockin new blues band, young, fresh, and full of life!

Here is a short bit of info on each band member

Gareth williams is the lead guitarist of the band, his style is becoming one which is raw and looking for power rather than being fancy and delicate. He uses heavy guage 13 strings, and plays a fender u.s.a. stratocaster. He uses an old lefthand vintage amp, for a really broken and raw distortion sound. Gareth's main ifluence, and true guitar hero is Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gareth greatly admires the power and passion with which Stevie plays. Although he does not want to steal Stevie's style, as too many guitarists do, he just wants to take the raw power and passion with which Stevie used, and push out that same power through his own style.

Matt Nicholson is the drummer of the band, not to mention the backbone and brains behind the operation. Matt is always there to lift the spirits of the others when times get tough, or gigs don't seem to be goin too well. He always gets us all through, and because of his optimism, gigs always turn out a success, if no-one appreciates the music, then the band have a good old piss up afterwards. Matt's ability on the drums is of a high standard, he can more than cope with many styles of playing, but now from some gentle guidence from Gaz, he begining to feel most at home with playin' the blues. Matts experiance with music in general means he is the main songwriter for the band, lyrically and melodically, in short he a 'MUSIC MAN!!!!!'

Sion Ifan is the quiet, tame and mild one of the group, cheesy grins all around. Sion is one of the silent strong types, there aint really much more to say about his character, so i'll move onn to his guitar playing, Sion is in another band, aswell as ours, with whom he plays heavy punk rock. His rythm is solid. It is thanks to his timing and abilty to keep a steady rythm that Gaz can play any old shite on his guitar and get it to sound good(cheers Sion). Sion has an old Les Paul styled guitar, with real dirty sounding pick ups, really bright and trebely. Sion is accurate and percise in his playing, each note he hits is crystal clear, and when compared to Gaz who just doesn't care, Sion is always squeaky clean.

Marc is a 22yr old uni student studying music tech at Bangor. Marc is certainly the most experianced of the group having been playing Guitar for 6 yrs, and moving on to Bass in the last few yrs of that period. Marc, like Matt, enjoys playing all styles of music, but he thrives in playing funk. When he gets going into some mad bass solos you get see his fingers atall, just the smoke rising high above his fretless fingerboard. Marc seems to be another easy going character, who just rolls along with what we decide happens, even though he has vital input to the way we perform covers and construct our own material. Marc is our shall we say 'secret weapon', and is a very valuable asset to the band.

Angela is the latest edition to the great rock and blues band. Angela is the ecentric of the band and is guarenteed to make every one laugh or cry. Her loud front just the lift the band needed. Angela brings the band up to a completely new class and feel with her piano playing, giving many songs far more atmosphere and feeling

The biggest influence on the band is 'Baloo's Band' Not only do they kick arse, but they inspire us, take us along to gigs, let us play sometimes, and even let us jam with the band. They are an unbelievably skilled blues band, they are incredable! It is thanks to them that The Red River Band have become a blues band. We are forever indebted to the guys of Baloo's band.
