T'ai Chi Ch'uan

Restoring health in body and mind
The Chinese term "T'ai Chi" refers to the polar expression of all things in the universe.  Spring, summer, fall, winter.  T'ai Chi Ch'uan is an ancient Chinese art which internalizes this principle to restore health, nurture the spirit, and develop "soft" martial skill.  The gentle, flowing, and effortless movement of the T'ai Chi form allows the release of tension while strengthening the body's connection to the earth.  Coupled with natural deep breathing, this practice frees up stagnant "chi" energy and re-circulates it thoroughout the whole system, fostering a sense of calm, vitality, and wellbeing in body and mind.  The goal of the martial aspect of T'ai Chi is to retain this quality without hindrance, even when under duress.
- Unlock habitual tension patterns
- Improve posture, relaxation, and breath
- Foster the circulation of "chi" energy
- Restore the body's natural resonance
- Develop a dynamic moving "root"
Join us in cultivating these qualities in a friendly, egalitarian, and investigative atmosphere.  This class will focus primarily on learning the T'ai Chi form and developing the internal qualities which make T'ai Chi a healing art.  A unique system of "push hands" practice will also be taught for those interested in the martial benefits of T'ai Chi.  Beginners are welcome, as are experienced practicioners.
