Maybe I Could Fly

A silver moon hangs in the sky
Oblivious to the anguished tears I cry

How can it not feel my pain?
How can it shine when I’ll never see your face again?

Tears flow, dripping from my face
As across the wooden floor I pace.

The universe is backwards
Even breathing is awkward

Just knowing that I won’t hold you anymore
Sends me into sobs, trembling on the floor

If only I could die
Maybe I could fly

Into your arms I would go
And then perhaps I would know

How it feels not to fear
Because you would be near
