12th May 2000
Got an email back from the midlands Equity man I can become a student member (he has sent me a form) but I can't have the name Catherine Clark because there is someone with that name Catherine Clarke. (with an E ???) I emailed him back to say my last name is without an E but I still can't have it. That means I have to chose an different name. I just sent all those letters out and the money on the photo's with my name and email address at the bottom.
I got an letter from Players a few day's ago saying that they would like to take me on and could I send them £59. I don't know what to do I can't use Catherine Clark now. I send an email explaining about this. They said it was they could still use the photo and everything I just had to let them know when I knew my changed name. Trouble is I got think of one now.
10th May
More time sorting monologues. I'm really stuck on an modern comday think I will put a message on The Stage website board.
The advice I found out about tax keep record on expense on looking for work. (this encludes the price of buying The Stage.) I can claim tax off them. I'm still not sure how it works but I'll keep record just to see how much it is costing me.
8th May
Contacted equity for information on how to be a member. They are sending me some things. I think I can still become a student member. I think I will email the Midlands agent.
5th May
Reproduction photo's 50 for £34. I Sent letter's to agents together with C.V. and photo's. looks like this will be expesive. I'm now making an note on how much I spend. I'm still not sure where I stand on tax. I read abit about it in the book and on the stage web site. (Click here to go to The Stage Web Site.) I think I will have to see somone about it. Something to do with tax code D because we are seen as self employed.
2nd May
Phoned more agents. Got my photo's back today it cost £5 each for B/W 5" by 10" photo. (This is the size of photo that Agents and directors expect.) I filled my Spotlight form in and sent together with photo and cheque of £120. Sent Players my photo C.V. and an letter.
30th April
I put together my C.V. and wrote letters to send to agents.
28th April phoned round some agents to see which ones to send an C.V. to.
27th April
Been spending the last week or so looking on the internet at casting sites. There is lots of places where you can pay for them to look for jobs for you and send your details off. Some even put your C.V. on they site. (All at an cost) This has given me an idea to make an page for my own C.V. (click here to view it don't forget to click your back button to get back to this page.). If someone wants to know more about my Theatre experience I have I can give them the address. I'll also put other photo's of me up on there.
I put an message on the Stage message board asking about what others thought I should do know I have finished University. I mentioned about online casting and most said they didn't think of any ideas. The responces I got were werid. They mainly on about going to drama school or doing an year cource. I haven't got the money or the grades for that. I think I will send this thing of to Player's a company that sends details of to directors. It was adversited in the stage and it doesn't sound that bad. I don't know what else to do if I don't have any agent's come and see the performance.
One of my respondes to my message was from an Simon Dunmore wonder if it's the same guy. Well I don't think he would pretend do you.
