Major Characters

Name: Lina Inverse Appears in: All Slayers seasons, movies, and OVAs Lina is the heroine of Slayers. She is a sorceress who specializes in Black Magic and Shamanist Fire Magic, but she is also fairly skilled with a sword. In the movies, OVAs, and the first season, Lina is 15 years old. In Slayers TRY, she is 17. Even at such a young age, she already has a bad reputation. She is known as a Bandit Killer and a Dragon Spooker (meaning that she is so scary, dragons are afraid of her). She is known as a Bandit Killer because she gets money by stealing it from bandits, and when they mess with her, they don't get out alive. Lina has somewhat of a short temper, especially when someone mentions the thing she is most sensitive about: her small breasts. Many people mention this and tend to get Lina quite angry. Lina's good qualities are her optimism and desire to never give up. She doesn't let bad things get her down, and she will always fight to the end. Lina desires three things: money, food, and power. She will do anything for a reward, she loves to eat, and she is always looking for new, more powerful spells. She is very brave. Her only fears are slugs and her sister, Luna.

Name: Gourry Gabriev Appears in: The Slayers TV series: all three seasons Though he is not very bright, Gourry is an excellent swordsman. He wields the powerful Sword of Light, which Lina really wants for herself. Gourry met Lina when she was attacked by a group of bandits. Gourry fought the bandits and saved her, only to realize that she was "just a kid." Gourry thought that she needed protection and agreed to take her to Atlas City. But even when they reached Atlas City, he continued to follow her, and in Slayers NEXT, he said that he would probably protect her for the rest of his life. Gourry often angers Lina by mentioning her small breasts, and always seems to be getting hit by her. Lina has called him "jellyfish brain" and "yogurt brain" quite often. But the two of them do love each other.

Name: Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun Appears in: The Slayers TV series: all three seasons Amelia is the daughter of Prince Philionel el de Seyruun and is the princess of Seyruun. She is a sorceress who specializes in White Magic and Shamanist Spirit Magic. She seems to have an obsession for justice and is always giving speeches about justice, peace, and doing the right thing. At the beginning of a battle, she will get on top of the highest object in sight and give her speech. She will then jump down, only to land flat on her face. Amelia aspires to be a hero and an Ally of Justice. Amelia first met Gourry while she was attacking a group of bandits. Gourry had separated from Lina. Amelia asked Gourry to help her find her father, but her father had asked Lina to help him exterminate some monsters. So when Amelia found her father, she met Lina, and she and her father went with Gourry and Lina to Seyruun. Amelia saw Lina as an Ally of Justice and decided to follow her and to become a hero like her. Amelia is a bit too obsessed with peace and justice, but she will always try to stop the villains. She is very determined.

Name: Zelgadis Greywords Appears in: The Slayers TV series: all three seasons As a child, Zelgadis wanted to be strong. Rezo, Zelgadis' grandfather and great-grandfather (don't ask me how that works), granted his wish by turning him into a chimera that was 1/3 human, 1/3 golem, and 1/3 demon. As a result, Zelgadis is incredibly fast and his stone skin makes him impervious to many weapons (but not blunt objects such as a mace). But Zelgadis is embarassed by his appearance and will do whatever it takes to find a cure for his curse and to get revenge on Rezo. Zelgadis is both a skilled swordsman and a sorcerer, specializing in Shamanist Spirit Magic. At first, Zelgadis and Lina were enemies. Lina had obtained an item from a group of bandits, and Zelgadis wanted that item. But Lina thought that Zelgadis was the enemy and was going to use it to ressurect the Dark Lord Shabranigdo. When she found out that he was not the real enemy, they joined forces. Zelgadis often left the group, but ended up meeting and joining them again. Zelgadis is very independent and often goes off on his own to search for a cure to his curse. He is willing to do almost anything to find it, even if he has to fight Lina and the others for it. Zelgadis is very intelligent and can find a strategy or solution to a problem.

Name: Xellos Appears in: Slayers NEXT; Slayers TRY Xellos is a mazoku (demon), and a powerful one. Aside from the Dark Lords and Shabranigdo's subordinates, Xellos is the most powerful. He managed to kill thousands of dragons in one attack, during the Kouma war (War of the Monster's Ressurection). He is the priest and general under Greater Beast Zelas Metallium, one of Shabranigdo's subordinates. Xellos calls himself The Mysterious Priest. He is always watching from the shadows and answers many questions with, "Sore wa himitsu desu" (meaning, "That is a secret"). Xellos met Lina after she attacked a group of bandits. Lina and Zelgadis were searching for the Claire Bible, and Xellos said that he wanted them to retrieve a manuscript of it that he knew the location of. They agreed to find it (at this point, they did not know he was a mazoku), but when they did, Xellos destroyed it before they could see it and left. He then came back and followed them around, because he was ordered to keep them alive. No one in the group trusted Xellos, especially Zelgadis. Even though he helps the Slayers gang, Xellos is evil because he is a mazoku. He likes to hurt and to be hurt. He always comes and goes as he pleases, and often leaves in the middle of a battle.
