Remember that Reiki uses a light touch, no pressure or massage is needed. Because of massage laws, you may need to make sure you pick up your hands between positions, and not slide them to the next position as that might be constituted as massage. |

The positions are generally held three to five minutes. When doing the head positions you stand behind the head of the person being treated. Move to the side (some say closckwise and others anti-clockwise) of the person when doing the torso positions. You can do the knee and feet positions on the side of the person or move down to in front of the feet. |

The positions are not set in stone and if you want to add or take out positions then do so - be guided by your hands. One rule to follow is to move your hands one at a time so you do not break the flow of energy or the contact with the client. You can have your hands side by side, one on top of the other (which focuses the energy) or any other way you wish. The energy is drawn through the palms and back to the hands so it does not matter which way round your hands are - just make sure you are comfortable. Remember, Reiki is Pure. the |
