SingLee Pekingese was founded in 1934 by Irene and Otto Ruschhaupt of Fresno, California.  Irene had a small Pekingese kennel of top quality dogs including four All-Breed best In show toys over the years.  Irene was the driving force in Pekingese from 1940 to 1970.  for those thirty years she dominated the toy rings in California and surrounding states.  She was one of the founders of The Pekingese Club Of Central California...a viable club still in existance.  She was also one of the founders of the Sun Maid all Breed Kennel club in Fresno, California.
She was fortunate to purchase Ch. Shanling Little Puff of Linbourne, who was a BISA winner under Mrs. Rushhaupts Tutelage.  His son, a homebred named Ch. Shaling Sing Lee, was #1 Pekingese in 1956 and was also a BISA winner, as was his son Ch. Ditto Shanling Sing Lee.  She also had good fortune to purchase Ch. Ku Chin Tommi of Sing Kye, bred by the Aldrichs.  At 8 months he took his first win at Orange  Empire Show from William Bergum and at 10 months finished his championship.  He was her fourth BISA Pekingese, also winning the PCA National and was the #1 Toy dog in the Western States in 1966.  In total Irene bred or finished 68 Pekingese champions in 36 years of breeding and showing.  She had too many groups and BISS winners to remember and they were all top quality.  Her Ch. Sun T' Yang Wong Sing Lee was Top american bred sire of all time back in the 1960's.  He was sire of 23 champions.
When Irene became terminally ill, she willed the kennel name Sing Lee along with her remaining dogs to J. Robert Jacobsen, whom she had mentored in the breed for many years.  Bob Jacobsen has owned the breed since 1962.  He purchased his first peke from a friend of Mrs. Gertrude May (Gee-Mais Pekingese) who lived in Alameda, California.  From that point he never looked back.  He has bred or owned 13 All-Breed BIS Pekingese over the years and has made up over 150 champions.  His first two BISA winners were litter brothers.  Ch. California Gold Sing Lee and Ch. Blazers Beauregard Sing Lee, direct desendents of his first peke.
Bob Jacobsen has been active in Breed Clubs thru the years.  He is the longest standing member still alive or active in the P.C.C.C (Pekingese Club of Central California), and has served as president and vice-president of this club.  He also belongs to the P.C.A. (Pekingese Club Of America), and has also served 4 years as a board member.  He belonged and was active in 2 all-breed kennel clubs in California.  The Mensona Kennel Club and Redwood Empire Kennel Club.  Bob moved to Idaho in 2002 and still has pekes.  He recently was reaquainted with Timothy Reese and Randy Winters of Dunkirk Pekingese with whom he co-owns 3 pekes bred by Tim and Randy.  BIS Ch. Dunkirks I'm Gonna Live Forever and Ch. Dunkirks Eye Candy, who were both in the Top 10 Pekingese in 2007, and Ch. Dunkirks Center Stage, who Bob has been showing and co-owns with his wife Sharon Jacobsen who has been breeding Min-Pins for over 30 years and Chinese Crested for over 13 years.
His Top winning peke was Ch. Briarcourts Excelsior, who has 14 All-Breed BIS, 6 BISS and 71 Group 1st.  Bob has won BIS at the PCA national Specialty 3 times.
