EDUCATION
Although my home town is Kottayam, I had my schooling at the N.S.S School, Perunnai, Changanacherry in the District of Kottayam in the beautiful land of Kerala. My father, the Late Prof. P.U. Krishna Warrier, was a College teacher at the N.S.S. College there. I even today remember many of my friends and teachers, especially our beloved Head Master, Sri K.R. Narayanan Nair and class teacher for three successive years, Mrs. Indiramma. After completing the S.S.L.C, I did my Pre-Degree course at the nearby N.S.S. Hindu College. I had secured the THIRD RANK in the State for the PDC examination. Meanwhile I had successfully passed the National Science Talent Search Examination conducted by the National Council of Educational Training and Research, Government of India. This entitled me to a good Scholarship upto my Doctorate level. So I had to go to the University College, Thiruvananthapuram for my B.Sc course in Physics. We were the second batch of the Special B.Sc course of the Kerala University. There we were twelve Science Talent Scholars in our class. As a part of the Scholarship scheme, we attended summer schools of one month duration at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Bangalore University and Nagpur University. That was a very good experience. I passed the B.Sc course also with the third rank. Then I moved over to Kochi. I had my M.Sc Physics at the Cochin University of Science and Technology. I secured the Second Rank in the Kerala University. During the M.Sc couse as part of the scholarship scheme, I did a small resarch project and was able to publish the results of the same as my first research publication. I went to the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and joined for my Ph.D under the able guidance of Prof. P.P. Kane. I worked in the field of gamma ray scattering.
