Early Marriage
I had a dream of you
It faded long ago.
Where is that dream of you?
I need it now, you know.
As days go by, and weeks
There seems so much to do,
But still my conscience speaks-
I must bring love back, too.
While once you stirred me deep
Now it isn't as much,
Unless I've begun to leap
To wrong conclusions, as such.
But I will now attempt
Not starting tomorrow, but today.
And try so unrelentingly
To shove those doubts away.
Love can be kept ever new
Made even more exciting and warm,
As two people come to know
What each of them knew all along.
So I will light the candles
And dress for the occasion
Of your coming home each day
To me, despite all temptation.
