Yarns

Yarns are as varied as people. Made from materials including wool, alpaca, cotton, acrylic, mohair, yarn is found in every color you can imagine. In addition to material and color, yarns come in a myriad of textures (boucle, chenille, etc.). When choosing yarn for a project, buy all you need at once, since different dye lots may produce different colors. Weight refers to the thickness and heaviness of a yarn. Heavier yarns (bulky) are used for sweaters and afghans. Light-weight yarns sport and fingering) are used for baby clothes and lace.
