These symptoms last for several months at the time a person can be stuck in a manic phase over many months as with depression. Often times the person is mostly stuck in one of the phases most of the time a rarely having to deal with the other. I am a mostly manic so when my mood shifts its safe to say its a shock. Bipolar people do experience "normal mood" inbetween their cycles however, that usually doesn't last long. These symptoms may be relatable to anyone its only when it affects your daily activities is when you should speak with a doctor.
