He makes his way through the starry night White face glowing brightly Topped with auburn hair Black cape trailing every movement Lustrous chestnut eyes scanning the distance Seeing things no ordinary mortal can imagine The immortal of the night With nothing to fear But the flames and upcoming sun And truly, fear itself, which is always a factor Then the hunger hits him Like a knife driving into his silky, soft, smooth skin The need! The hunger! Oh the taste of succulent sweetness Red, redder than anything else, why of course Blood red The hunger burning inside him like a wildfire Set ablaze upon dry wood He walks along the worn dark path Just as he's done countless times before Keeping count impossible He being at least 500 years in age From his immortal birth He at the time, twenty-four, and forever that He shall stay By far not the oldest of his 'kind' But truly a survivor, known all around by 'them' A true miracle, surprisingly talented As a vampire, and having any and all human qualities Truly mastered Reads the most intimate of thoughts Moves without a sound, strong as 10 mortal men Yet he falls to the hunger Old, yet too young, to overcome the thirst Along the path, the oh so long path A thousand memories The victims, the pleasures, the love The thirst now so strong, it's painful Building up He still walks, he still waits Passing a mortal once in awhile He, now walking slowly, much like those mortals When really he could move ever so fast The mortals never seeing, ever knowing he was there Could float if he pleased Frankly, he, himself, disliked that skill Though, had mastered it He takes a seat on the nearby bench The breeze blowing through his silky shining hair He brushes it back off his forehead Short as it is, still troublesome, but truly beautiful Dazed, suffering from the thirst pain He looks down Observing his luxurious nails Now, over the years, have become clear Sparkling and twinkling like glass At times, still even mesmerizing to him Then he feels it again A strange presence But it disappears at the speed of light Lost again Up at the stars he gazes He knows the twinkle, same as her eyes His love, also of his 'kind', gone now Disappeared it would seem, like many other things His mind shifts, Enough painful memories Onward now, to ease the pain Time to choose a victim He rises Walks at vampiric speed, unseen by mortals Down the moonlit path Eyes wandering every which way Then he saw her A woman ahead on the bridge Her long black hair blowing out behind her Reading her thoughts, he easily found her story She wanted to die In the next instant, he was by her side Then he took her Bitting her neck, draining her blood Giving her what she wanted, death So be it, and she returns To the eternal garden of life Pity, another caught in the savage garden Only two hours before the sun rises again Onward he walks Through the dark gloomy streets of the city Searching for the unknown This is what he was doing As a pain still lingered, yet what? This he did not know Suddenly he stopped cold in his tracks For what had come out of the shadows Had truly shocked him Which rarely ever happens For what he saw, he had never expected To see again Thought to be lost forever Her straight brown hair Spilling over her shoulders Smooth and silky as it had always been Her unique details, small but strong Showing through Her, almost an angel, precious to him Ah, angel of death Slowly she walked up to him Yes, the same as always Her strong jaw bone Soft, full pouting lips, blush pink Green eyes, oh the same, so caring and warm Yet piercing and cold when she desired Her feline movements Quick and swift, Yet graceful and elegant at the same time Oh so beautiful Now he saw, saw what the pain was Loneliness, now with her back, never again The world nothing, immortal, yet without her.. Not worth being 'alive' or in the same sense And at that moment, promised himself To never lose her again, or face true torture Immortal sadness Without having said a word They silently embraced They knew each others thoughts Then arm and arm they walked Down the path, the oh so travelled path Now different Together again Into the night, now, not so dark For eternity, the vampire souls matched The dark lovers The night walkers |
