The Erskineville Kings' fashion stylish, Archibald "Pringle" McKenzie writes about the coming season of fashion... I've written my HOT tips for the 2003 season of fashion in Australia, based on "what's in" in overseas fashion. THE POLKA DOTS: I'm serious folks - Polka dots are set to be the stylish look for 2003. Polka dots with shirts, T-shirts, jeans and all the other clothing accessories will be a la mode (in fashion.) Finally Mr Tiedgen's polka dot bikinis are going to have a higher demand! (My year 11 economics teacher.) THE MINI-SKIRT: (For girls) The stripy pyjama pants have gone (although I thought they were damn sexy!), the micro-minis are still around and also in, for those who are daring enough, is the mini-skirt - now Jess Ballantine has an excuse to wear incredibly short skirts. It is likely, however, that many girls who who aren't as bold will go for the comprimise and wear their skirts slightly above the knee rather than one that goes up half the thigh. THE PRINGLE: Polka dots on shirts will replace the stripes (hopefully). Also in the "Pringle look" is the "aquarium" shirt. There are many Vinnies stores around Sydney. Marcs stores are the more expensive version of the Pringle style. THE STEVEN WILLIAMS LOOK: Also known as "the dag" look. Refer to the Steve Williams Wardrobe. THE GREEN: All shades of green are the colours to wear this season. And no, it's not a case of "I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue." Khaki especially will be a nice colour. THE RED: A flame red colour is the other suave colour this season. Either on it's own, or contrasted with green, or as polka dots. SKIN TIGHT: (For girls) It's appears that anything that includes lycra that hugs your legs will be in. Not exactly my cup of tea. Maybe it'll grow on me. THE LOOSE FIT: (For girls) Despite differing opinions from many girls who think they know what they are talking about in terms of fashion (coincedently, many of them with big fat arses), I'm in favour of loose fitting clothes for girls. The loose fit softens down a large derriere, but it also creates a casual, laid-back sexy look. THE PASTEL BLUE: Pastel blue jeans. |
