The meaning of RENT!!!!
Since this site is apparently devoted to RENT, it is in my opinion that we should devote at least one page to talk about what RENT is on about (not much).

Ok, now RENT was written by this guy Jonathon Larson in around 1995 or 1996. It's irrelevent when, so I'll move on.

The basic story line to RENT is that there are a bunch of people (art types-bohemians) and they all live in New York with no money. Except for this one guy, Benny, who "sold out" and married this rich girl so he could become a nutbag. Or so the other characters say. Anyway, there are two guys who live in this apartment, Mark and Roger. Mark is an out of work film maker (whoops Mark on the career choice there) and Roger is an out of work musician (same to him). When the musaical begins, Mark's girlfriend, Maureen, has dumped him for another woman, Joanne, and Roger's girlfriend, April, has just killed herself when she found out that both she and Roger had the AIDS. So as you can see, these are not success stories of guys, but they are our main characters.
There's this other guy, Collins. Now he's a bit on the gay side, so he too has the AIDS, and he used to live with Mark and Roger until he got a real job (unlike Joe King). Then he became a bit on the lack of money way again, so he was on the street. That is, until, a polite young transvestite named Angel invited him into her/his house. Angel also has the AIDS.
That's about all the characters worth mentioning except for Joe King. Joe King is the actors name and the parts he plays do not have names, which is why he is refered to as Joe King. They include, Homeless man #1, Homeless man #1, Joe King, and of course a priest (one of his worse performances). Nobody who was at any of the Australian productions ever appreciated Mr. King except for us on this website. Joe King, we salute you!!!!
WE hated you in the ferals, though. I mean seriously, get a real job.
Now, back to the story line. All the characters start talking about how much it sucks to live with the  AIDS (except for, obviously, the characters without the AIDS, who just generally complain about whatever) and sing for the next few hours. Excellent family viewing.
Oh wait, I forgot to mention Mimi! After April dies, Roger just can't help himself so he goes out with the Peuto Rican stripper named Mimi, who also has the AIDS. It's a touching story, really.
DEATHS DURING RENT!!!!
The following people died during the productions of RENT;

                                                    Angel
                                                     April

That is all.
Mimi almost died, but came back because of a stupid song written by Roger.

Jonathon Larson died unexpectedly from a completely unrelated event (actually, he had the AIDS, too, but he never did like to admit it).
GO HOME!!!!
Speak to us (please).
