Twelfth Night, January 11, 2003, Barony of Nordskogen

Morning Court:

Northshield:

Midrealm:

HRM Tarrach: "we’re pretty sure she’s here"

HRM Fina: "this is really fun" Fina had been writing in for a long time—since she first sat the Stellar thrones recommending Marwen because when she’d first visited Nordskogen as Princess she’d been new and a little scared and Marwen had helped them become very accustomed and sure of herself. She was glad no one had listened to her because now she got to do it and presented with a Baronial Coronet

Evening Court:

*Herald asked that people refrain from flash photography to avoid the chances of someone being inducted into "the order of the glowing purple dot"

Midrealm:

Principality:

HSH Isabella was honored by the fencers who fought in the tourney and wished that she had "30 sleeves to give". However, THL Kristoff was the victor. He had fought a Norse 5 and though he won his first 3 bouts he still fought the last 2.

HsH Robert: "Everywhere I look you are doing something to make this place better—as evidence by the way your lord fought in [crown] tourney, you are an inspiration"

HsH Robert: "[I’m] happy because I get to give it to you—sad because it is long overdue"

HsH Isabella requested permission from the King and Queen of Calontir in order to be able to give it to her and "almost started a war over it"

HsH Robert: "…never seen anyone do as much as a Knight’s Marshal as you have."

Our Herald, Alasdair Calum Montgomery, had a scroll written in a language he could not read but said that he knew that Their Royal Majesties' herald may be better able to translate. Reb Yehudah Ben Yitzhak began reading the scroll only to discover that it was an Award of the Purple Fret being gifted to himself for his service as seneschal

Midrealm:

Another Rapier Tourney had been held that day called the "Muster of the Men of Erin." This tourney was based upon an epic poem from Ireland about King Fhergus who owned a legendary magic sword that could lop off the top of three hills with a single stroke. In the tourney only the fighter who held this blade, Caladbolg, could permanently kill an opponent. If a person was killed by any other blade in this combat they would be resurrected after a short time and then be able to rejoin the fight. If the bearer of this sword was himself killed, he must leave it on the field where any other fighter may have picked it up. The battle went to the last man standing.

HRM Tarrach called forth the participants. In front of the thrones sat a stone pierced with the sword, Caladbolg . HRM Tarrach pulled the sword from the stone and replaced it for the next man to try. It didn’t go back quite as easily as before, arising a comment that it had been broken. This prompted a heckler to call "Behold the power of our King". Michael St. Christian came forward and pulled the sword from the stone. HRM Tarrach commented that "he must have won". To which Lord Michael replied "No, I didn’t. I better put it back." The real winner then stood up and pulled the sword from the stone. As the winner, Lazareth Gauge, started to return the sword, HRM Tarrach commented that the "winner gets to keep that sword". The winner’s jaw dropped and Michael St. Christian leaped up proclaiming "Oh, I did win."

HRM Tarrach "I was so well fed at Armorgeddon. Not only I but the whole camp…[she] offered to leave site for food for the seneschal…this generosity makes the Society strong…"
