History The original and more abundant car is the Laser 917. There were four sets of molds made over the years to produce this car. A company in Ontario, Canada purchased the second set of molds ("B") and started producing the car up here under the name Wolf 917. I purchased this car in December '99 from the cars owner and builder. It was started in 1989 and built in a small single attatched garage in a little town near Hamilton, Ontario. The car is built on a '66 VW Beetle chassis. The previous owner, Gary*, wasn't happy with the performance of the VW engine so he opted for a carburated 302 Ford. The transaxle is from a company called Transform in California. I have included some pictures of the engine taken through the rear hatches at the bottom of each side of the rear of the car. A frame was built under the engine to take the extra weight. * Gary does deserve much recognition for this project. Most of the work was done, and done right. Now it's my turn to spend MY next ten years putting personal touches on the car. |
