The library has a large collection of records. See the link to the library's website below. There is a full collection of Federal Census Records, as well as Missouri military records from the Civil War, a large passenger list collection, a newspaper archive dating back to the 1800's, and many other reference materials. I can look up and copy obituaries, wedding announcements, births, etc. Also marriage records, deaths, births, wills, and cemetery records, depending upon year and place.
I am also able to go to cemeteries in the Independence, Lee's Summit and Blue Springs areas and have a good camera for cemetery photos. There are records available for some of the cemeteries in these areas.
Because of time limitations I am unable to do research in Kansas City or at the Jackson County courthouse at this time. In September 2003 I will begin researching in these areas and also at the National Archives in Kansas City, Missouri.
If you are interested in these services I would be glad to help you. Please email me with a detailed description of what you are looking for. I work on an hourly basis, $6 per hour, with cost of copies and postage added, or in the case of cemetery photos with cost of film and processing plus postage added. In most cases I don't charge mileage.
