LESSON PLANS

I teach in the Masters Program of Phoenix University, Vancouver BC campus. This is a list of links to lesson plans and tutorials put together by and for my students in my EDD C540 and C520 Integrating Technology into Education course delivered at the University of Phoenix, Vancouver Campus.

These teachers also created their own lesson plans on how to integrate information technology into their classrooms. Take a look and if these lesson plans are useful to you, feel free to use them, just let me know if you have used or plan to use them so I can pass the information along to the teachers.

This website on fitness can be used by Physical Education teachers and students. The site highlights strength training, endurance and preventative injury guidelines. The site is designed in an easy to use format so that teachers can use the whole lesson or bits of it. Students could also use the site at school or at home to determine workout schedules and to develop strategies to improve their fitness.
  • http://www.sportunterricht.de/animation/laani.htmlA website that could be used to assist students that learn best by modeling repeated track and field sports. The animated sport actions are repeated over and over from beginning to end. Students that do not communicate well can look at this site and; understand the beginning,, middle and end of a movement. This could be used to assist Life Skills, ESL or mainstream students that need their learning reinforced. The site offers animated instruction of sprint, hurdles, relay race, steeplechase, long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot-put, discus, javelin and the hammer. As a bonus the site offers instruction in two languages so the students can pick up on their Dutch!

The Space for Species site offers a web based instructional science and technology unit for Canadian students in grades 6 through 9. Canadian astronaut Bob Thirsk developed the site. The site is sponsored by the Canadian Space Agency, Environment Canada, and Natural Resources Canada. Using space satellite tracking technology, students track in real time, the migratory patterns of endangered species. All information for completion of the unit is available at the regularly updated site. The site has link to its French counterpart http://espacepourlesespeces.ca. The site includes a space for educators where the instructional unit can be printed out.
I have been using this as one of my major science units for the last two years and highly recommend it. It follows B.C. Science and Information Technology IRPs.
An excellent Internet unit developed for Canadian students. The Joe Cool or Jo Fool site is an on line game directed at intermediate and high school students. The site is intended to teach students how to be web savvy. Topics covered are online marketing, privacy, safety, authenticating information responsible Internet use and ethics. The teacher guide is downloadable at the site. The on line unit is followed by a quiz. It is an excellent unit to use at the beginning of the school year. Students navigate through a variety of scenarios, which addresses various Internet issues. The unit can be used as part of the personal planning and info tech curriculum.
This Statistics Canada site offers a variety of lesson plans and instructional units in French. A variety of topics are covered, including acid rain, the greenhouse effect and agriculture. Each unit has clear instructional objectives, teacher resources, student worksheets and links to other relevant resources. Some units require the use of Stat Can CD ROMs, which are free or available at a reasonable cost. This site is great for French Immersion teachers.
This website highlights the literacy components that should be present in a kindergarten language arts program. The components listed are: language development, listening skills, letter/sound recognition, phonemic awareness, shared reading, guided reading, writing and literacy activities. Lessons are provided for the shared reading, writing and literacy activity components. This site is incredibly useful it provides photographs of what each component looks like in a kindergarten classroom
  • http://www.kinderart.com/
This website is gem for primary teachers. Kinderart.com has excellent lesson plans on a vast number of topics including: architecture, artists, art history, crafts, drawing, painting, printmaking, seasonal crafts, sculpture, and textiles. Each lesson plan clearly states the materials needed and provides a clear teaching sequence. Unfortunately, the lesson plan objectives do not tie in with provincial IRP's, so teachers will need to write their own learning outcomes for each lesson. This is a highly recommended site!
Our group quite enjoyed the process of compiling a list of our favorite lesson plan websites. It is always interesting to see the diversity of information available on the web, and this process allowed us the opportunity to share our equally diverse interests with one another. We hope other teachers find these sites helpful.
