Amish Christmas Sugar Cookies


Part One Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup oil
2 eggs

Part One Preparation:
Mix well.

Part Two Ingredients:
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
4 1/2 cups flour

Part Two Preparation:
Mix part two well.
Blend ingredients together, then chill. Flour hands,
then shape into balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten
with bottom of chilled glass dipped in sugar. Sprinkle with
colored sugar. Bake at 350 degrees farenheit until edges are golden.

Amish Friendship Bread

  
  Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

   1      package       active dry yeast
   2 1/2  cups          warm water
   2      cups          flour -- sifted
   1      tablespoon    sugar
   1      cup           oil
   3      cups          sugar
   3      cups          flour
   1      teaspoon      baking powder
   4      each          eggs
   1      each          vanilla pudding mix -- small box
   2      teaspoons     cinnamon
   1      teaspoon      salt
   2      cups          milk

For Starter:

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of the warm water in a deep 
glass or plastic container.  Stir in remaining warm 
water, flour and sugar.  Beat until smooth.  Cover 
with loose fitting cover.

DO NOT REFRIGERATE!  The starter requires 10 days for fermentation.

DAY 1    Begin or receive starter
DAY 2    Stir
DAY 3    Stir
DAY 4    Stir
DAY 5    Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk
DAY 6    Stir
DAY 7    Stir
DAY 8    Do nothing
DAY 9    Do nothing
DAY 10   Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk

Put 1 cup of starter in each of three containers; give to friends.
This will begin their DAY 1.

To the remaining batter add:
1 cup oil, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, baking powder, eggs,
vanilla pudding mix, cinnamon, and salt.

Beat with fork until well blended.  Add one cup raisins or nuts,
if desired.  Grease 2 loaf pans and sprinkle with sugar instead of
flour. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour.

Amish Whoopie Pies Cookie Dough


Ingredients:
1 cup shortening
2 cup sugar
2 whole eggs
2 egg yolks
1/2 teas salt
1 cup cocoa
1 cup sour milk
1 cup hot water
2 teas. baking soda
1 teas. baking powder
4 cups flour
Mix dry ingredients. Set aside. Mix moist ingredients,
slowly add dry and mix well. Drop by Tablespoonfuls on
greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 min at 400 degrees.

Filling
2 egg whites
2 teas. vanilla
2 Tablespoon powdered sugar
4 Tablespoons milk
4 Tablespoons flour
1 1/2 C shortening
Cream shortening, mix in rest of ingredients, beat well
add an additional 3 1/2 Cups of powder sugar.

When cookies are cooled, spread with filling and place another
cookie on top to make like a sandwich. These are really delicious!
