From Chapters 11-15, not much happened. One thing for sure is, it was straight forward unlike chapters 1-10. Not confusing. Jonas just started his assignment and met the previous Receiver [The Giver]. They introduced themselves to each other, and the Giver started off with refreshing Jonas' mind with some of his memories. Jonas got the feeling of it... just like The Giver experienced it. Like in my other two responses, I will tell you what I think about these chapters and compare myself to one of the characters!
Before, I said the book seems abnormal and weird, but afterwards it gets a bit better. But, in a way, the story is a bit awkward, too. Because of the part when the Giver had to refresh Jonas' mind with his memories. The way they explained it... The Giver massaged Jonas' back and Jonas felt cold and saw snow... one of the giver's memory has been passed onto Jonas. That part was abnormal for me. Otherwise, the chapters were fine.
I will, once again, compare myself to Jonas. When Jonas first met the Giver, he was kind of scared because of how old he was and of when he passed on his memory to him. He was nervous. If I was ever in that situation, I would be nervous and scared... in fact, I might even run! But Jonas couldn't do that because the man was practically his teacher to be a Receiver and it was his assignment to do a Receiver's job. But the things we would have in common in this situation is being very nervous and scared.
I was supposed to include a paragraph about my experiences, but I have no experiences where the events in these chapters are concerned. As I said before, this book is better than before now.. It's getting pretty interesting! |
