In chapters 17-23, not much happened, once again. The receiver continued to give Jonas some of his memories for a bit, and then they talked about changing the rules of being a receiver. After a while, Jonas ran away from the community with Gabriel for his own safety. In this response you will find out what I think about these last chapters, and I'll compare myself to one of the characters. I won't add in my experiences because, again, I haven't any experiences relating to this event.
I don't really find this part of the book unusual like how it was earlier in the book. It made sense. Running away with a baby for their safety isn't abnormal or anything... but the way the book ended was weird, because Jonas and Gabriel were riding on the bike and heard music or echoes...those were the very last words and I didn't understand why it had to end that way. It didn't really make sense. Otherwise, everything else was fine.
I will compare myself to the Giver this time. We are different in many, many ways. He's old, I'm way younger, he has powers, I don't, but we're both NICE people. The Giver seems a bit nice in the novel even though he was freaky in a way. But other than that, we're different. He can be caring at times too... and same with me.
As I said before, I don't have any experiences regarding to these events in these chapters.
Well, I'm now finished the novel, The Giver, and I found it alright, not bad. It started pretty confusing, abnormal and weird and ended off good. It's not like what I thought of it. It's a good book! |
