Introduction

Millions of Africans became involuntary immigrants to what became known as The United States of America.  Enslaved Africans resisted from the inception of this horrific practice.  They started fighting on the continent of Africa, resisted on the ships, fought while they were on the plantations, ran away from their enslavers, formed maroon societies, and continued the struggle once they were free to help others escape.

During this Webquest you will learn about resistance and the Underground Railroad.  You will actively participate in two quests where you will meet many famous people who worked on the Underground Railroad, visit some important places that it traveled, and be witness to some historical events.  By the end, you will have learned a great deal about the Underground Railroad, and you should be able to share this information with your classmates in your chosen format.
