Liberation Theology: Concerning Violence as a means for justice
LIBERATION THEOLOGY. I first became familiar with the name of this Doctrine, on a Church visit after reading the words of an old man speaking through Catholic Missionary magazine Far East about the crisis he faces as a poor Christian in his part of Latin America. The message in there surprised me when I later learned just how against the "liberation theology" the Christian message and the Catholic Church's teachings are supposed to be.

By declaring this Liberation, the Author of
Liberation Theology meant that liberation should be attained by any means necessary, even if violent.
I remember a missionary week in a church I once attended not long ago when the visiting Missionary Priest there spoke about his work and then left eighty-seven copies of the mag; Far East for the church members to collect at the end of the service. This same Priest joked that when in a previous Mass after that Church-service was over and he came to collect what remained of the magazine he meet there lying just that, eighty-seven copies!

Indeed that attitude towards his message reflected how the church was like in my area. But at least with us I think we got the message if he was not joking, and grabbed a few Far East mags to read.

Whatever one's views are, Liberation Theology is a strange Doctrine, funny it is called one especially when related to Christianity. What struck me as strange when the attitude of it came to my notice is how little it was discussed or mentioned or even prayed for aloud on a regular basis, after all they are officially part of the Catholic church.  This issue is then very controversial. Missing this part of the global church in words and in actions reflected to me our own have and have-nots division both home Europe, and abroad Latin Americas which only fuels not only Theological liberationists like this but any Christian on the broader debate for justice who supports War and violence as a means to equality to push this view further like the old man interviewed, and similarly suggest that:
very soon everybody supporting his position will turn to it.
