This site will go away on October 26, 2009.

Our host, Geocities will go out of business in October and Respect Sacramento will not continue this website elsewhere.

Respect Sacramento is the name of the local grassroots organization that was formed by individuals dedicated to creating safe schools for all sexual minority people in Sacramento area schools. Our organization worked to advance the rights and safety of all persons in K-12 schools, regardless of real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.

After more than 10 years (first as GLSEN Greater Sacramento) the board members of Respect Sacramento decided to disband the organization. We have been at this work for many years, and while we are still dedicated to the cause of safe schools for all, the work of maintaining and sustaining an organization has exhausted our capacity to continue. Each of us will continue to work in our own way as individuals or with other organizations. We hope that our friends understand our decision and we look forward to seeing you as we continue to fight for safety and equality.

We decided to keep this website online for as long as we can, but our host
Geocities is going out of business and on October 26, 2009 this site will go away. We will continue to respond to email inquiries at

info (at) respectsacramento.org

and keep our Yahoo! group going at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/respectsacramento/.

As long as we can, we will be happy to offer our advice about LGBT issues in the schools and refer people to trusted organizations and individuals who can help.
