Racing the northern route usually starts in September  from Singburi 230 km. This route will end in February , flying Mae Sai at the Golden Triangle, 830km.
There will be altogether appr. 3500 birds at the start with probably  500 being released at the last race.
Fanciers living down here in Pattaya join the clubs in Sri Racha and Rayong, both clubs being geographicly close together and having their birds released together with the Bangkok birds.

To beat the birds from Bangkok is almost impossible but happens once every few years. This will not be easy since Pattaya birds will have to fly 70 km further, partly over the ocean, often with changing winds. It is not unusual for our leading birds being at the final race amongst the first 20 of all released birds.
This is quite remarkable, considering that around 100 Bangkok birds will have arrived on-the-day, usually at nightfall around 18.00pm, whereas the Pattaya birds have to spend the night probably somewhere in Bangkok.
It will not take many seasons of breeding and racing, to end up with a somehow different kind of bird compare to the bangkokian pigeon. A bird that can win for us, has to break away from the big mob early and make it home on its own.
For a fancier to be succesful amongst our local circumstances, it will require a broad minded, easygoing, adaptable personality. For somebody thinking he has an advantage, since he mastered widowhood, believing the locals are not up to this mastery since nobody flies widowhood will soon find out a thing or two.
