From Webster's on-line dictionary
is primarily made up of buddies John Dixon & Don Lipson (guitar guys), Andy Jameson on bass, drummer Pete Chan and singer Ted Millar. There are many other “members at large” and anyone with a few chops and a good attitude is always welcome to join us in the basement or on stage.
got started back in early 2000. In the beginning, we spent most of our time in the basement - one night every couple of weeks or soo - making a little noise and some sweet sounds from time to time. We kept telling ourselves “we aren’t really a band”. And we didn’t really rehearse – just jammed a lot. We kept it easy-going, relaxed and most importantly - we kept having fun. After about a year of this dabbling, we were asked to play at a birthday party so we took the music out to the people. The reception we received was way beyond anything we ever expected or could have hoped for. Word got around. The requests came in and now we play the odd (as in occasional) gig here and there.
About the name : Our friend Terry Abbott, the organizer of the birthday party, asked what the band was called. We had to tell her we didn’t actually have a name. She suggested “Remote Control” and we said fine. We later changed this to “Where’s the Remote”… because that’s something people say a lot. Later that summer we were lucky enough to play at the “TimFest” held out in Huntingdon. This is an annual event put on by a guy …you guessed it… named Tim. He was pretty well lubricated when he got up to introduce us. He said “What’s the band’s name?” “Where’s the Remote.” “What??” “Where’s the Remote!!!” “Okay Boys & Girls… Give it up for Retrofit!!!” We liked it and it stuck. Thanks Tim!
We only managed to play a couple of gigs in 2002, but they were a lot of fun and the crowd had a good time, so we came away happy with our efforts. Our goal isn't to play every weekend and certainly not to make extra cash. We just want to play once in a while and have a good time doing it. As you can see from our photos - we do have a good time.
So if you are in the Montreal area and are looking for a fun band to see, then send us an Email and maybe we can accommodate you. Probably we won’t – but no harm in asking.
