Coach Cheng Huikun - Beijing Wushu Team |
Cheng Huikun was born in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province in 1955. At the age of 8, she began training in Wushu. She became a Wushu teacher in the Beijing Amateur Sports School in 1971 and in 1974 a coach for the Beijing Professional Wushu Team. In 1984 she began to work in the State Commission for Physical Culture & Sports. One year later, in 1985, she received her education at a special course for coaches in the Beijing Institute of Physical Culture. She is currently deputy director of the Training & Competition Department of the China Wushu Research Institute. In 1990, she received a diploma as an International Wushu Judge. She was one of the Wushu judges at the 1st Asian Games (1987), 11th Asian Games (1990), 1st & 3rd World Wushu Championships (1991 & 1995) and the Southeast Asian Games (1991). Cheng Huikun is also one of the co-authors of Zixia Sword (Purple Cloud Sword) and Zui Chuan (Drunkard’s Boxing) books and also a contributor to the Sports Dictionary and Literature and Sports Handbook. |
