Hello, you've stumbled upon the home page of Krishna Kumar.

I am from the beautiful state of Kerala in India.

I did all my schooling in Calicut, the er... illustrious St. Paul's School, Farook College, the Regional Engineering College.

One day, I'll add more interesting stuff on the above.

Writing

After I came to Montreal and Concordia to do my M.S., I write at times, some sort of perennial homesickness providing the requisite verve I suppose ....

The Sahara Cup revisited on Rediff.

A few match reports on the '98 Sahara Cup.

Match 2.

Match 4.

Match 5.

I watched India play South Africa live at the spanking new Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Kochi earlier this year. Live international cricket in Kerala, how much better can it get ....

Cricket in Ottawa isn't too bad.

One day, whilst thinking about a softball game I played, I waxed a bit cynical.

I contribute to the Gentleman's game or at least I used to, now, I've returned to my lazy ways.

Our first cricket pitch.

At this point, the Indian bowling was a worry.

I stopped over in London for a few days this July. Here's a sort of sporting diary of the stopover.

Recently, after watching the India Australia match at the ICC Knock-out in Nairobi, I became overly sentimental.

We were a bit of a disappointment in Mumbai.

How fast do things turn around in cricket!

I got a bit ticked off at Stephen Fleming's comments after the first test of the current NZ-India series.

Whither will Kartik go?

Will Kaif scale the mountain again?

At Centurion the other day against Australia, we were neither here nor there.

Thank you, Sachin, for we've been blessed.

I tried explaining cricket to the Canadian baseball fan.

I contributed to the April 2004 issue of Wisden Asia Cricket. Page 26 of the print edition if you must know:) A piece titled "The drama is the difference".

Being Virender Sehwag.

I dwelt a bit on the cricketing mind.

What Ganguly has done for Indian cricket despite a very stiff set of hips.

Musings on taped ball cricket.

A middle ordernicety.

A touch of the surreal.

Adding some perspective to this discussion.

Misc. musings

A haircut down nostalgia lane on Sulekha.

The same haircut on Rediff :).

A timeless character?

Ah, the radio years ... those were them times....

The radio years on Sulekha.

The bearable lightness of travel .

An er...self-portrait?

I reflected on the fun-loving type.

Never did I know that Asha Parekh had fans in Mogadishu (some nice touches and a bit of the flow unfortunately taken out by the editor)....

The Ottawa Valley Cricket Association site.

Photographs

Some cricket photographs, the Sahara Cup in Toronto, the Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Lord's and a few at Wimbledon, will be up shortly.

Link to my photo albums.

OK, here we go:

Wimbledon 2000

A certain Mr. Amritraj and a slightly overawed me.

Southfields tube station all decked up.

Rafter serving, there is a tableau-like aspect to this view from up high in a court 2 stand.

Some Sampras magic atop St. Mary's Walk.

Centre court from outside, beautiful.

Looking out across from high up in court 2. Stunning.

Sahara Cup

Dravid up close in Toronto, 1997.

The Indian team after their Ganguly-inspired 4-1 win in 1997.

South Africa in Kochi

Gibbs and Kirsten walk out to bat, a 70,000 strong crowd in attendance.

Sadly, one of the last few times Cronje and Jadeja would walk off a cricket field with heads held high.

Calicut and Kerala

Ah, that beautiful little cricket ground we had in Calicut (if this doesn't remind you of Malgudi what will?) ....

Where else but in Kerala, this is "downtown" Calicut, can you find such greenery?

For some reason, I've always had this fascination for the Bharathapuzha. Always seemed more broad and welcoming than the Periyar:) A couple more views from the Kuttippuram bridge. View 2, View 3.

REC Nostalgia

Sandhya's birthday outside the canteen .

Outside an Ooty cottage .

On Bolgatty island.

We seem to be evaluating the orbital dimensions of the moon, down to the third decimal place, but really this is just a last-minute assignment.

Here's a photograph that says a million words, obviously not taken by me.

Great essays

After reading the following great essay, I've decided on putting up links to great essays on the web:

Here's the great essay I'm talking about, by Joseph Conrad.
