| Some quick facts about U2: * First, the obvious: Bono (Paul Hewson) is the singer; The Edge (Dave Evans) is the lead guitarist; Adam Clayton is the bassist; and Larry Mullen,Jr. is the drummer. * They met in 1976 at school thanks to 14-year-old Larry. He had posted up a note seeking musicians to form a band, and among two others, Paul, Dave, and Adam answered it. * They started rehearsing in Larry's kitchen. * Their first band name was Feedback, then in '77 they changed it to The Hype, and then in '78 to U2. * Albums released: Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop, and All That You Can't Leave Behind, and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. * They have sold 120+ million albums to date. * Have won 15 Grammys as of 05/10/06. * Bono is the blind ambition of the "family". * Edge is the scientist of the "family". * Larry is the bodyguard of the "family". * Adam is the musical conscience of the "family". * Dates of Birth: Bono, 05/10/60; Larry, 10/31/61; Edge, 08/08/61; Adam, 03/13/60. |
