Is it true that if you commit suicide you go to hell?
I didn't actually know until high school that there were some Christian churches that taught that people who committed suicide were automatically condemned to hell. Believe it or not, there are even some Christian churches that say that people cannot be buried in their graveyard if they have committed suicide.
Simply put, the answer to your question is no. In an earlier section on this site, I answered a question about blaspheming the Holy Spirit, in which I explained that this was the only sin which has the power to eternally separate someone from God; by their own choosing no less.
While we are surely told in 1 Corinthians 6:19 that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are not our own, it does not say that if we do something that damages the temple we are to be eternally separated from God. What saves us isn't bound up in the way we die. What saves us is whether or not we have faith in Jesus Christ.
