Country Kitchen |
Around 1986 or so I took a lady-friend I'd known since summer camp to have breakfast at Country Kitchen in Menomonee Falls, WI. Susan and I placed our orders and talked. It was a slow morning and the diner had few customers. At least 30 minutes later our food arrived. Some of it was cold, some over- or under-cooked. We called the waitress over and voiced our dis-satisfaction to her. She promised to get our food replaced right away. Between the poor quality of the food and the long wait on a dead day we were pretty irritated and ended up walking out without eating anything. Years later, around 1994, a group of friends and I had gone on a camping/whitewater rafting trip near Krivitz, WI. On the way back we stopped at a Country Kitchen in Green Bay, WI. I didn't think I'd have another bad experience since it was 8 years later and in a different city. We all ordered our food and it arrived in a timely manner for a busy day and was tasty. However, as we sat there we noticed that things were floating in our glasses. Looking at neighboring tables we noticed we weren't the only ones. What did management say? That their dishwasher was broken. I've worked in restaurants and cleaned dishes and I guess they didn't know how to use soap, a scrubby and bleach water to clean their dishes. It was disgusting watching unknown pieces of food floating in our glasses! Who would've thought...? |
