Tattoos vary in price according to location on the body, size, and detail... there is no way to give an exact price over the phone or through an email... these things are just done in person.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, OR CAN I JUST WALK IN?
Of course, everyone 18 or older is wecome to walk right in... however, unless you want a very small tattoo, or aren't planning on getting tattooed that day, you will most likely be disappointed. I suggest you make an appointment if you are looking into getting a serious piece of work done
WHERE DOES A TATTOO HURT THE LEAST?
Don't let pain dictate where you get tattooed. If you are that worried about the pain, just don't get one at all. Everyone is different, some people say the line hurts worse than the shading, others disagree... some say the neck hurts, others swear the stomach is the worst spot to get worked on. Pain is a relative thing... Myself, I hate getting tattooed, it hurts, sure... but, I love having them a lot more than I hate getting them done. It isn't bad enough to stop me or the millions of others that have them... but, if you MUST have a direct answer to this question... Don't get your first tattoo anywhere you are one of these three things... Tickleish, where you enjoy being touched too much, or where you dont like to be touched at all.
WHY DO TATTOOS COST SO MUCH?
People are often willing to pay more for shoes than they are for a tattoo... come on... this is PERMANENT, shoes are not. Haggling prices with a tattooist will do you no good, in fact, really now, do ya want to make that sort of impression on a person who is about to stick needles into your skin? Heh, anyway, to break it down mathematically... it costs me about ten dollars and also the shop about ten just to do a tattoo... so, say, at shop minimum, which is forty bucks... the over head is twenty, then the shop gets half of that minus three percent each... that comes out to less than ten bucks, so there ya have it. If you go to a shop, and they only charge ya ten bucks to begin with, even for a very very small tattoo... they are cutting corners and don't care about their own safety, much less yours.
I JUST GOT THIS TATTOO, HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF IT?
If you get a tattoo, don't pay attention to what your friends and family tell you to do... they aren't your artist. You pay your artist to help you with these things. Listen to your artist when they tell you how to care for your new artwork and the skin its in... If they don't tell you, ASK. How well you take care of your tattoo will have a signifigant effect on how your tattoo looks when it is healed... I know it can be a pain in the ass, but really, its only TWO WEEKS, in exchange for a tattoo you will have for... EVER. The aftercare I give all of my clients is HERE.
I HAVE BITS OF COLOR COMING OFF, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Just keep using lotion, flaking is normal and you should expect to lose some color with the flakes... This is preferrable over an actual SCAB... remember, lotion, lotion, lotion.
DONT'S
-When your tattoo is healing, it will itch, DON'T scratch it... If lotion doesn't ease the itching, then smack the area lightly.
-DON'T pick at your tattoo... if ya have a tiny piece of flake or scab that looks like the wind could just blow it right off, then let the wind blow it off... otherwise you will pull pigments right out of your skin.
-DON'T go swimming, get in a hot tub, or otherwise soak your tattoo in water or any other liquid until it is fully healed... Yes, take a shower, PLEASE, just DON'T let the water beat down on it for too long, or at all if ya can help it.
-DON'T expose your tattoo to sunlight or tanning beds, before OR after it is healed... use a good sunblock made for babies if you MUST be in the sun... UV rays cause the pigments in tattoo ink to explode under your skin... little microscopic explosions that over time cause the tattoo to look blurry and faded. There is a good reason why nearly every tattooist I know is pasty white.
