Medicine Bow Peak

Elevation: 12,013 feet

Mileage: 5.0 miles

Vertical Gain: 2,500 feet

Route: NA

Medicine Bow Peak is located approximately 40 miles outside of Laramie in the Snowy Range Mountains. Access into the Snowies is relatively short and a roundtrip summit of Medicine Bow Peak can be completed by most people in just a couple hours.

In the photo below you are about less than a mile from the road. You have nice views of some lakes and surrounding peaks. Medicine Bow Peak is one of the easiest 12000 foot mountains you'll ever climbing. From the road it's about 2-3 miles to the top and takes around an hour to get to the top.

Below I'm standing straight under Medicine Bow Peak and trail just zigzags the far right side of the mountain.

Below I'm at the top overlooking the south view. Some storm clouds were rolling in so we decided to hurry off the mountain.

Below we decided to take a shortcut and pratice our glissading(butt slide) technique.
