The meeting officially started at 8:35 p.m. on May 17, 2002 with Fr. Erick saying the opening prayers.  After the opening prayers. Fr. Erick thanked Ched Conejos for hosting the event and personally appealed from the group that someone should take his place as the Chairman of Batch ’78.  He officially endorsed Edna A. Gillera as Chairman but was hesitantly accepted by the latter, telling him that he should still remain as the figure person for several reasons.  After due deliberations and exchanges of personal views, the group finally accepted the endorsement.  The following were discussed and agreed upon:

Bits & Pieces from Canada Eh!.....

In Vancouver....
katatapos lang ng long week-end dito.  victoria day kasi kahapon.  anyway, last saturday our family, terry's family and beng's family met each other at metrotown mall to watch the preview screening of "spirit"  afterwhich we went of course to the dollar store and food area and had lunch.  ang saya saya namin.  pinasasabi nila, kapag gawa na ang swimming pool mo, lulusubin ka namin.  kaya't bilis-bilisan mo ang paggawa.   -fenchie

In Toronto....  Project- Pool & Deck
The 3 stooges struck again...Rey, Nilo and Val got together last May 18 to talk about their summer project in Val's backyard.  Nilo stayed at the Buzon's place in Markham the week before  for 3 days to study the requirements and do the measuring and display his architectural genius in designing the deck and incorporating a 24' round above-ground pool.  Chona was impressed with Nilo's design.  The Bisdas, Buzons and Nilo then watched the "Spiderman" in Val's basement make-shift theater while Gretchen and Chona watched  TFC in the kitchen.  Rey chip in his great talent in drafting and draw the design in CAD in his spare time at work.  Nilo finished up the plans with some free-hand diagrams. The Buzons met Nilo in Mississauga last week and they went to try the ever-popular Krispy Kreme doughnuts....then they went to church together.  The work will begin when we get the permit to build it..... As Nilo puts it..."we will make building the deck a lot of fun."

Newly Found Buddies

Renato Barredo

A Short Stint in Palau

Like many of us who dreamed of working abroad to find a better paying job,  Rene (Renato S. Barredo) of IV S Cancer was lucky enough to work in the Republic of Palau as a Risk Appraiser for an insurance company.  Although it was a very short stint for him, it was very profitable.
Rene is a city scholar of the University of the City of Manila (Pamantasan) where he finished a Civil Engineering course.  He had worked in various insurance companies in Makati right after graduation.
Back in high school Rene is one of the Sports Editors of “The Torch” and held the position of Quartermaster of the famous Model Troop 85 of THS Boy Scouts Movement.

He is now happily married to Mila who is a devoted houswife and has three children namely; Kimberly (12 years old),  Gerald (9) and Giancarlo (3).
Number one on Rene’s top priorities right now is to leave for abroad again, this time with his family to follow her sister’s footsteps who has settled already in the  land of milk and honey.
Somewhere, sometime, someplace you’ll be hearing from Rene again and it will be straight from the horse’s mouth because he is a writer himself.  Who knows it could be in a form of a poem, which is his forte?

- Thanks a lot, Rey Bisda for the write-up and pics -

Follow-up on...

Ahmee Fabula-Aquino

Flashback:
As promised, I finally have the time to share a little bit of what has happened to me since...Actually, I don't know where to start- I remember every 3 years noon Cancerian people always have a re-union-iba't ibang lugar medyo lagi pang buo ang group the first few years hanggang sa nahinto na and then for a while wala na kaming communication.  I remember sa bahay pa namin ang last.

On Migrating and New Life in New Zealand:
Anyway, I heard about migrating to NZ thru a workmate sa MWSS and then nag-try akong mag-apply through points system (General Category) so na-approved naman ako after 5 months of waiting.  So there we go -kasama kong nag-apply yung 1 ko pang ka-officemate sa MWSS.  We migrated here November 1996 and dito ko na rin nakilala yung husband ko na Pinoy rin (which preferred ko talaga na Pinoy rin ang maging asawa).  Although, I was a CPA sa 'Pinas-e hindi ko naman ma-practice dito because I landed to a different job-pero OK na rin for a start but then when I got married and have 2 growing kids no time na para sa akin ang mag-further ng studies to have a good career.  Tama na sa akin ang simple clerical work dahil very demanding ang maging mother role lalo na dito na you do everything dahil walang katulong.  I just leave it to my husband ang kumayod ng husto (ha! ha!) Happy na ako sa ganoong klaseng lifestyle-especially here na very quiet and simple life.

Here's a photo of my kids, their names are Frances Jillian(3 yrs old) & Jeremy Carl (14 months)i did not send a picture of me & my husband (Jack Aquino III) para naman surprise !!! (ha! ha!)

Always,
Ahmee

Celia Tanafranca Carrillo

On Celia's Family:
My husband's name is Cresencio Carrillo, Jr., whom I met in college at F.E.U..  We both graduated as Summa Cum Laude, joke lang.
My eldest daughter is Carla Crizelle, senior high school and will be attending University of California in Irvine.  She will take Biological Sciences as her Pre-Med. course. My second daughter is Carmela Cris, she is in 6th grade. And my youngest son is Cresencio III, he is in 4th grade.

I guess, this is all for now, but I'll still keep in touch.  Sayang nga at hindi pa tayo nagkita when you came here last March.  I just live 20 minutes from Felix's place.

Bye,
Celia
