Minutes:

1)   Rudy Jao called the meeting to order at 9:15 am. He welcomed and thanked everybody for a wonderful job
and the efforts given by everybody towards the success of the medical mission.
2)   Minutes of the previous Executive Council meeting held at Zeny Bayot's residence on March 17, 2001 was
      pressented and approved.
3)   Rudy Jao informed the group that the PAF plane, which was supposed to fly the missioners back to Manila
on Monday, May 28, 2001 was cancelled. Every missioner was instructed to make their own arrangement
for their return trip to Manila.
4)   Follow-up report on the status of Joyce Jimena-Ancog was given by Macrine. Her condition at the Makati
Medical Center was reported as stable.
5)   At the middle of the meeting, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Aventajado arrived and greeted the group. The couple
invited the missioners to a hearty lunch at the St. Clair Monestary in Mogpog.
6)   Treasurer's report:   Dave and Macrine Katague acted as treasurer in the absence of Joyce. Dave was
designated to be in charge of collecting receipts and paying the necessary expenses incurred by the mission.
Final tally of expenses will be reported at the next meeting.
7)   The group was informed that the six missing boxes of medicine were impounded by customs and five
thousand pesos was paid before they could be released. These boxes were sent via Manila Air Cargo from
Chicago. These medicines will be distributed through the office of Efren Labay, with priorities over the
pharmacy of the hospital and the Puericulture Centers. The group decided that since Efren Labay is the
Provincial Health Officer, he will be delegated to distribute the medicines based on each towns' needs.
Rudy Jao requested Efren Labay to submit a report on the distribution of medicines.
8)   Feedback on the medical mission were as follows:
        a)  Macrine - "The mission was a great success. We reached a great number of truly needy folks".
She recommended that if we were to have another mission, it should be held during January
or February when it's not too hot. She informed the group that so far, the food situation is
satisfactory, but our budget may not be enough. She also requested that the surgical team of
Freddy Ng be brought food at the hospital since they were still performing surgeries that day.
Aida Mariposque, sister of Rudy Jao, was assigned in bringing the food to the hospital.
        b)  Efren Labay - He thanked everyone for a great and unselfish job, well done. The missioners expressed
their appreciation, thanks, and gratitude to the hospital staff and health officers who joined and
volunteered their time to serve in the six towns where the missions were held. Efren Labay
willingly accepted the responsibility of distributing the medical supplies still to come from Manila.
        c)  Hector Sulit - He expressed his disatisfaction ofhaving only one microscope to work with, which was
not even in good working condition. He reported that they performed 30 cataracts and 19
pterydiums. His group could have done more if they had more microscopes. He recommended
that local ophthalmologists be sent to Manila for training and later return to Boac to care for our
local patients. His team of surgeons included Dr. Benjie Senador, Dr. Ferdie Atenza,
Dr. Raymund Sulit, Dr. Lea Sulit, and Dr. Alex Olivares. Mrs. Paz Sulit was also vey active in
examinations of patients with eye problems and was in charge of the team that went to Sta. Cruz.
