     www.amnesty.org. The Amnesty International Gopher is maintained at the Institute of Global Communications. It contains the information about the US section of AI. Other Amnesty International Home Pages exist at Georgia Tech and at the Institute for Global
     Communications. Amnesty international has a site, entirely in French - Amnistie internationale,

         PeaceNet is a world-wide computer network serving organizations and individual working
         for positive change in the areas of peace, social and economic justice, human rights and the
         struggle against racism. PeaceNet is also a repository for current information ranging from
         disarmament, economic justice, immigrant rights, the prison system, indigenous peoplesand
         many others. Through our international partners in the Association for ProgressiveCommunications PeaceNet also features news, actions and events throughout the world, including the Middle East, the Baltics, the former Soviet Union, and Central America.

         Around the world there are thousands of organizations and agencies working on matters that pertain to education, social, political, and economic development. The purpose of the
    Together Foundation is to support and strengthen these organizations by providing them with
     expert computer-network consulting services, Internet-access tools and information resources.
    1.    Volunteers in Technical Assistance - VITA
         VITA has been active in international development work for 35 years, and has managed
         development projects throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America in its history. In support of development work around the world, VITA operates an information resource service. In
         addition, the Disaster Information Center is a focal point for distribution of emergency incident situation reports and other disaster status and support information.
     
    1.     The Carter Center
         The Carter Center in Atlanta, Ga., is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute founded by former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, in 1982. The Center is dedicated to fighting disease, hunger, poverty, conflict, and oppression through collaborative initiatives in the areas of democratization and development, global health, and urban revitalization. At present, the Center operates 13 core programs and initiatives active in more than 30 countries, including the United States.
     
    1.     Comprehensive Human Rights Initiative
         The CHRI is a grassroots movement promoting equal protection of human rights for every
         individual member of the human species (hence the name Comprehensive Human Rights
         Initiative). Our goal is to see all governments and all branches of government adopt, as a
         fundamental basis of all law, the principle that every individual member of the human species is a human being, a person, possessing human rights equal to those belonging to any other human individual, and that every government is obligated to grant equal protection of those rights to every human individual under jurisdiction of its laws.
     
    1.  The Commission on Global Governance
         The Commission on Global Governance is working to develop the transition from a
         framework of international cooperation dominated by the Cold War to a system better able to deal with the challenges of the next century.
     
    1.     Peace Brigades International
         Peace Brigades International (PBI) is a unique grassroot organization exploring and
         implementing nonviolent approaches to peacemaking and support for basic human rights. By invitation, PBI sends teams of volunteers who go into areas of political repression and conflict.PBI provides protective international accompaniment for individuals and organizations who have been threatened by political violence or who are otherwise at risk. In this way, PBI enlarges the space for local activists to work for social justice and human rights, while at the same time being non-partisan: not telling them what to do, how to do it, or how they should form their future.
     
    1.     ACLU Freedom Network
         The ACLU's provocative and informative site contains a comprehensive array of documents, news releases, legal briefs and Congressional memos on all aspects of the ongoing struggle to protect civil liberties.
