My trip to Hawaii 2000 Part 3

Wednesday August 16

Swap Meet and Dole Plantation
We left this morning to the Aloha Bowl for shopping at the
biggest swap meet I have seen! The bowl is pretty close to
Pearl Harbor, about 40 minutes from Waikiki. I bought the
dress I was was wearing in the picture below. Then we left
to the Polynesian Cultural center and got a flat. So we
called them up and changed the date for that. Instead we
just drove around and looked at the beuatiful land and headed
to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. Red dirt is very common here.

The Dole Plantation in Central Oahu, has the worlds largest
maze and features a garden with 21 varities of pineapple.
We enjoyed pineapple icecream topped with fresh pineapple chunks.

Eating again!

Here we are at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company on the 3rd level of
the Ala Moana shopping center. The atmosphere here was real exciting,
full of sayings and items from the movie Forrest Gump. The food was
so good! I had Shrimp Shack Pasta, Terry had Shrimp Scampi with
linguini and Joanie and Cajun shrimp over rice. It's a good thing
we were doing lots of walking. We actually had one major meal a day.

Thursday August 17
The Polynesian Cultural Center

The picture above was taken at the canoe dance show.
All the island came out in canoes with music and dancing.
It was very colorful and enterntaining. Next is Joanie
with Chief Sieu Avea. He is from Samoa wherethe men do
all the cooking! guess my husband has Samoan blood in him!
Afterthis picture was taken, the chief picked Joanie up
and the whole audience just clapped and cheered.
The chief is also the main fire dancer at the evening show.
