I don’t even know if you married, and if I am a grandfather or not. You don’t know how many times, I wished I could have gone back in time and made things right for you. I know I should have at least called you, but I did not want to hear you say, “Daddy, please come home”. I am not sure, if I am writing this letter correctly or not. My spelling must be awful. Sure hope you can read my writing. |

Yes, I have been drinking. Maybe, that’s why I had to write this letter to you. I have spent many nights along side of the road in a ditch. Don’t have any money for a room. But, I do have my bottle. Don’t know how many states I have been to. Truthfully, I am not sure where I am now. I Just hope that you will read this, and know, that I do Love You, Very Much. Tell your mother I am ok, if she should care, and hope that she is too. |
I hope that someday, you can forgive me, for not being in your life sooner. All My Love, Now and Forever, Dad |

Several weeks later, I called my Mother and Dad, and asked about a letter from you. They said, “You got the letter back”. It went to Dallas, San Diego, Phoenix, Baltimore, then back here to Chicago. “A note was attached to the letter, from the Post Office,” my mother said. It said, “If you would like to forward this letter to the correct address, here is the new address that we have found”. Attention: Our Daughter Cindy C/O Jesus in Heaven Zip 26435 (Angel) My Heart just stopped beating, as the memories came back to life. I realized, no matter how drunk I was, that our daughter had passed away, many years ago, at the age of 5. She would have been 35 now. |
