Glennie, real name, Glen Chowler,  is an English friend hailing from Cleethorpes in the North of England.
As far as I know, he is 47 (circa 2000), lives in the company of Helen, an Irish gal, and has one little son, Dylan,
works as a District Nurse, and has a lot of comments about life, sports, and the Grateful Dead.

I do not know about their cider but you should have a look for all the photos on England Cricket & Cricketers

It's only Rock n' Roll
LUMBH MELA:  The Greatest Show on Earth
Greetings to one and all, on whatever continent you may inhabit or of any sexual persuasion you may belong to..that includes any exiles of you who are enjoying the delights of foreign countries not of your birth and hope that you are all paying your dues (and taxes) and keeping out of those horrible stinking foreign jails infested with rats, creepy crawlies and rampant bacteria...ho.ho.ho.....
no red cross parcels now for at least 2 months and the Consular general is oblivious to your REAL needs..

HAPPY NEW YEAR and hope that the festivities treat you well, personally I was up shite creek with a dose of the galloping Hong Kong flu and had a number of days of work, bored and unwell in which I was able to question my own fragile mortality and tried in vain to imagine the dark, quiet abyss that will undoubtably greet us all on that fateful day our maker comes to call us to his/her bosom, yeah OK pretty heavy shit but when one is pushin 50 then these things are vital???

It is with this in mind that I must profusely apologise for the lack of card, envelope and stamp and hope that I/we are not too readily or hastily crossed off the Xmas card list and will promise to do much better next year. I can honestly say that you are all very much in my mind as are the number of our friends and contemporaries that have sadly passed away far too soon for my liking and are missed. (Jow, Al Barker et al) I hope that you are all well and will definately make more of an effort this year (and following ones) to make more personable contact.

In the same arena I must also congratulate anyone who has had an addition to their family, be it child, cat or even been fortunate to have a hip-replacement, cataract operation, cholesystectomy (gall bladder removal) or maybe even the odd coronary artery by-pass graft...nay... but there are good chances of these op's coming our way as we wend our merry way along. I hope that maybe any smokers will have decided to quit and any over-indulgence kept in check but most of all may you all suffer good health for a long time to come.

On a personal front, as anyone with a sprog will testify, the cash flow is a trickle and recources are aimed at nappies, childcare etc (when will the little one decide to crap in a toilet??) and most holidays are spent with friends and relatives...we are to visit Eire in may as one of Helen's brothers (Dermot and Noel) are to wed, hopefully we will visit Dawn and Simons house in March and depending on the state of Mother with child?? (not yet conceived) we are holding back on any other plans. Hope to make a Test match vs the Aussies (a must!!!) possibly Trent Bridge and if Mary's plan for a trip to the Cambridge Folk Festival is still on then names need to be gathered and there are 3 here to add to the list, give us a bell after the skiing trip eh briggy?? Dylan is wonderfully reckless, inquisitive and destructive and God help us to wrest ourselves from this blessed area before he manages to develop a Hull accent.

Of course as previously stated anyone who feels the need to expand their knowledge of East Yorkshire (and beyond) is more than welcome to take a trip over (or round) the beautiful Humber bridge and visit the Hessle household of ours and can look forward to a hearty time full of mind-blowing conversation and devastating what??

I feel that I must also draw your attentions to the Kumbh mela..............for the next 4 weeks you can follow this amazing gathering on Channel 4 T.V. or on http://www.channel4.com/kumbhmela/ and marvel at that thing that is exclusively Hindu...India...and only happens once every 12 years at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh where the holy rivers Ganges and Yamuna meet. It is estimated that upwards of 30 million people will visit the site and at any one day there will be a temporary population twice that of London....If nothing else the watcher will be amazed and maybe even spiritually touched, reject western civilisation and retire to an ashram...well maybe not but who knows eh?  The next big Kumbh will not be until 2013 and yours truly will hopefully still be arround and organising a trip for the over 50's only.

Congrats to you aussies on 15 in a row, better make the most of India as the poms will be no pushover this time (gulp). Welcome to the recent additions Evie Grant and Lucas Jordan Catherall (born within 10 days of each other eh?) Hope the heart is ticking well Wouldy? Happy Birthday Nikki, Good luck with the book Pip, Break a leg briggy? Must be fluent in Spanish by now Laureen, Up the Mariners and lets all do our best to keep Baldy Hague the boozer and his pox ridden crew out of power for another 4 years at least.

Ciao for now folks
Keep in touch

Howdy Pardners.....
So hear we are in the middle of a marathon sporting weekend and with more to come it's time to reflect a little on the goings on, the why's and wherefore's and the downright riddy-culous.

Golf......who gives a fuck eh??  the rich goodlookinblack-fellarincapandredshirt?? is in a world/time-zone/galaxy of his own and who cares if its a Grand Slam/?..Well I'm a long gone daddy and I dont need you anyhow.....it's really nice to see well manicured grass and some nice acacia trees, those guys must wear slippers for fear of messing up those luverly greens. Have great fun listening to the bozo commentators on glof...how difficult can it be to hit a fuckin stationary ball along some grass, would be more fun if they were blindfold or the ball was moving, its that difficult that three guys with the combined age of nearly 300 can do better than others considerably younger...Gary Player better than Greg Norman, Faldo, Seve and Miserable Monty?? fraid so..excuse me while I leave my residential home to win the Open??   Golf?? had more interesting bowel movements..

Horse Racing...The Grand???National from (R)Aintree......only two horses completed the course without incident??  if the BBC were not there and there wasn't so much hype then it would have been abandoned for sure. Surely it was only good fortune that no horse died...must admit I was really hoping that the lot would fall, that would have been so fuckin funny...with the BBC hanging on to this and other crap events like the Boat Race they get blown out of all proportion, all racing should be relegated to Sky or Channel 4 and races run under floodlight between Midnite and 0600 hrs, where were the Animal Liberation Front anyway??

Boxing.....The Lord Allah has spoken...for he has said that enough is enough and Prince Hamed of the Naz you are much too much a showoff and it's about time that you quit mouthing off and went back to Sheffield, visited the Crucible and put the fear of God into some wimpy snookers players and help Rocket Ronnie O win his one and only World Championship.....one more than Wee Jimmy White anyway......fraid I've not seen any of the fight yet as it was on Sky at 0200 hrs (where the horse racing should be..point taken?) but hear on the radio that he was well and truly stuffed?? couldn't happen to a nicer guy..

Football......Leeds up to 3rd (bloody yorkies), Coventry to escape the drop (no chance) Fantastic games in midweek...Leeds clouted Coruna, Arsenal will be lucky to get past Valencia and man Utd are a shadow of their former selves and just can't cut it anymore...it's one thing to beat the usual suspects in the Prem (with only a handful of really decent teams) and another to turn it on like Real, Barca, Bayern etc..... Liverpool did well in the Nou Camp or the Camp Nou as Ray Stubbs now calls it, is it Akin-buy-ee or Akin-buy Motty, Hen-ry or Orn-ree, Poy-yet of Por-yeh, Daveed Ginola or David??  these guys get paid big bucks to toss off a commentary you would think they could get it right??  Anyway 3 great points for Town yesterday (ok Tranmere are bottom) but with only 6 to go it's do or die time down there, at least we have 4 home ( Watford, Sheff U, Blackburn!! and Fulham!!) and only 2 away (West Brom and Brum) could be worse. Well after 2 hours of trying to get through to a jammed switchboard managed to get thru to the England ticket line today and secure 2 tickets for Sven's Eng-er-Laaaaand vs Meh-hick-ooo at Pride Park (Derby) on friday May 25th.........my first home viewing of the lads after fateful (frightening) and very interesting trips to Espana, Poland, Turkey and New Zealand....(2 wins, 1 draw one loss)   watch this space.....

Rugby.....we stuffed the frogs..........

Oh yeah and Celtic won the two-horse race that is the Scottish Premier(???)....premier what?
and as we speak Spurs are 1-0 up against Arse at Old Trafford..........must admit my money was/is on the Arse and Liverpool...why do they continue to refer to the Wimbledon victory over Liverpool in 1988 as a shock/giant-killing....if you study your Rothmans you will find that at that time Wimbledon were a top 6 team in the 1st Div.....

Hope you are all well

Have to report that investigations into painful gonaditis the Registrar copped a good feel and deduced a severe nadger infection or kidney-stones?? with an ultrasound scan (of the noogies and the kidneys) to follow and maybe some more antibiotics there is no fear that the creative sperm are still active and ready to reproduce more offspring.

Yours in limbo
