It is considered a Human Graphics discipline, along with "Draw-A-Person, Draw-A-Tree" test and Kinetic drawings interpretations.

It takes into consideration the written document as a whole, with how letters are formed, movement of the line into shape formations, rhythm,  shape of formations, pressure, and many other details which are then analyzed by the expert.  It is especially accurate on cursive writing, but printing will also reveal certain information about the writer.

Information revealed through handwriting, comes from the subconscious as well as the conscious parts of the mind.  The subconscious provides information which it accepts as the truth, while the conscious sometimes doesn't.  It is possible to tell if a person is lying using Graphology.
