As part of the best back row in the world, Lawrence has been under extreme pressure to perform to claim his Lions place. The most obvious rival to Scott Quinnell at number eight, he has had an average season. Much criticised for, among other things, running too laterally, he is still a fantastic player. Bill Beaumont said it, Dellaglio is a blindside flanker, not a number eight. The issue is not so simple as Quinnell or Dellaglio, but more the problem of where to play Lawrence, who in many people's eyes, must play.
