                       A SOLDIERS PRAYER
Lord, as I go out to battle
To defend my country's freedom

I march behind my Flag of
  Red, White and Blue
I ask that you help me and guide me

Lord, where there is fear, replace it with courage
Where there is weakness, give me strength

Where there is fatigue
Give me endurance
Where there is despair
Give me faith

And when my brother or sister has fallen
Give me the strength to carry them back to safety
Out of harms way

And when I have taken my enemies life in battle

I ask you for forgive me for what I have done
And realize I fought proudly for You, Lord, and My Country
So that we will for ever remain
    The land of the Free
                        Amen

If I were an Artist
I would paint you
A Soldiers' Portrait
But how do I paint my fear
What colors would I use
To show you my tears are private
What paint brush will show you
The emotions I hide deep inside
What canvas do I choose
To show you the blood
Of my Brothers and Sisters
That have died in Saddam's sand
I say to you who watch
Us from across the sea
You simply cannot see
For you arenot me?
After it now longer bleeds
My tears are private
And you cannot see
This Soldiers' Portrait
For there is no color
That descrives death
Or a paint brush that
Will paint back the loss
Of my Brothers and Sisters limbs
Yes, my tears are private
my sorrow I carry
For those killes
In hte name of Freedom
Do I really need a paint brush?
Or can you see
This Portrait of a Soldier
Can you really see me?
