DEANNA  TORNOW
Chapter Historian
Lena lives in Athen, Greece with her husband and daughter. Born in London, but with Greek and Russian origins, she bounced back and forth between Greece and England throughout her childhood , finally making Greece her permanent residence in 1984. However, she was not to stay put for long as she traveled extensively working alongside her husband who is a cruise ship captain. Whilst working on ships she graduated from the Sheffield School of Interior Design, who also provide a long-distance course.

With the birth of her daughter in 1993 she concentrated on bringing her up and being a homemaker, quite literally, since they started building a home of their own in the southern suburbs of Athens. Following this experience Lena realized she wanted to acquire more knowledge in interior design , and after research, arrived at Rhodec. Lena's first time with Rhodec was not without its obstacles. However, not being one to give up on a dream easily, she re-enrolled in 2006 and made a promise to herself that she will finish the course this time around. Apart from interior design Lena loves to travel, paint (including on furniture!), read, go to the movies, do yoga, swim, blog, and write. She has worked on cruise ships, in shops, casinos, been secretary, taught English as a foreign language, and translated books.

Deanna aka DeeDee is a wife and mother of an Ohio native family, currently loving in the beautiful mountains of Virginia.

Even as child DeeDee was an experimenting with interior design, making “reading nooks” and making interiors for her Barbie doll!  In hindsight DeeDee believes she should have realized her passion sooner!

Thirty years later, DeeDee is finally pursuing her passion and with her four boys in their teenage years, DeeDee and her husband husband Matthew are finding more time to do those things we love and enjoy.
Both DeeDee and her husband have an enthusiasm for everything old and anything in regards to architecture and spend there weekend working on projects around the house, checking out Roanoke's next building renovation, or window-shopping for anything house and home related. DeeDee truly has the interior design bug and has her sights set on buying a house built in the 1830's that is in need of total modernization!

Deanna used to sing at weddings with her partner, can't really cook, loves to read, hike, renovate, travel and be with her family and studied American Sign Language at a local Ohio college.
