ASID/Rhodec Student Chapter Competition
The chapter hosts its first competition!

In August, 2003 we launched our very first student competition to establish a header for our website.  The header had to incorporate the Rhodec school logo and the ASID logo.  Colors were specified as gold, navy, white and grey (yes our website colors!).  The Competition was open to all Rhodec students and was hugely successful.
The winner, whose entry can be seen above, Amandeep Jhita (right) of Nairobi, Kenya was awarded a student copy of AutoCAD, courtesy of Rhodec International.

Amandeep commenced the distance learning course in June 2002 and she is about to complete the first three units comprising of History, Materials and Draughtmanship. She has recently received the Design manual and intends to start this subject very soon.

Amandeep says,
"Although the course is very challenging and demanding in content, I am sure I will succeed in my new endeavour to become an Interior Designer.  Upon graduation, I intend to work at an Architect’s Office to gain the relevant experience, but eventually hope to start my own Interior Design Firm."

As a Student, Amandeep says she owes her achievements to Rhodec, the tutors, the bulletin board and the
Coffee Shop members who have been extremely helpful and supportive.   As an individual, she owes all her success to her husband, Jagmeet Jhita, who, she says, "has been a constant source of encouragement and inspiration since the first day I met him.  Thanks to all"
1st Place Winner
A close runner up was the design of Susan Kucia (below) from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.  Congratulations to both members on such fantastic entries.

Susan, or Suzi, as she's known, has also been studying with Rhodec since early 2002. She is a practicing designer and says she is "
Looking forward to being Allied ASID upon completion of the program. My future plans include my own residential design firm."

Suzi is married, has no children yet, but, she adds, "
We have a beautiful yorkie boy!" That's a little dog for anyone who's wondering!!
